First two weeks were very hard. I came to London with £360, spent £315 for acommodation for a month and was left with 45pounds. Luckily I got a job, each day for two hours. £6 for hour. That`s good, isn`t it? For the beginning. I was waiting until I am 18 so that I can register in an agency. Well, I registred two days before being 18, but nobody noticed. That was Monday when I registred.
I stopped working for Ida because she lived too far. I used to iron some clothes for Mr. Troy who really liked me, unfortunately I didn`t so I stopped working for him too. I didn`t like his company very much. He was a very strange man. Sometimes he was saying something and in the middle of the sentence he changed his mind and said You know, Lucy... For example he said I don`t need to take off my shoes and after 5 minutes he said You know, Lucy, rather take them off. What the... ? Well, I needed the money so I came a few times but only when I really had to.
We had so little money. Once we were coming from work with Morka (one friend I am living with) and we really had to buy something to eat, so we counted our money and it was 2.09 pounds. So we bought cheese and bread at ASDA and we were left with 25pi that we were planning to spend on choclate at Lidl, because it`s cheaper there. But the cashier made a mistake and gave us only 20pi change. When we found out we thought we`ll kill him. But it was too late. We felt so horrible then. But then we found 5pi on a cupboard at home. So everything was okay in the end.
Those were the first weeks. Now I am working in valet, that`s something like laundry, in a 5* hotel Jumeirah Carlton Tower at Knightsbridge. Knightsbridge is full of expensive shops including Harrods. Our hotel is full of Arabs from Dubai. They don`t speak english well. So sometimes they just say londeree - londeree nau. And I say we cannot do it now, you can have it only tomorrow afternoon. It`s a great job. The Arabs are really funny. Two days ago one of them gave me earings. I love getting earings. I don`t wear any jewellery, only earings. How did he know? :)
I am teaching swimming my friend from Bangladesh, Khan. I love swimming, and I love teaching it too. I told my colleague Charles about it and he said he tried learning it but somehow he can`t make it. So I`m gonna teach him too. The most important thing is to feel the water, to know how to float, not to be afraid of it. If somebody`s afraid, he breaths too fast and then he`s gonna go down.
I read a lot of books, actually I read only 5, that`s not a lot, but I am working, you know. Now I am reading God Passes By. I love Shoghi Effendi`s style. I read Busy Bahais. That`s a great book. I think I don`t have big problems with managing time and I already knew many of the things that are suggested in the book, but it helps reminding that I should do them. After maturita, the exams, when I had plenty of time, I used to plan the next day, make some goals for the day, so that I didn`t sleep too much and I actually live the day. Because when you have plenty of time, nothing to do, then you really do nothing, and I hate that.
Okay, enough for today. I promise there will be more soon.
I miss everybody who reads this post. :)
